The Secret to Moving Faster
Hi Friends!
How many times Have you waited for the perfect moment to start something—convinced that you needed more preparation, confidence, or certainty? We’ve all been there. But what if the key to progress is simply the courage to try?
Today, we’re diving into why testing, trying and tossing ideas quickly can get you ahead faster. I’ve got a book recommendation that will shift how you think about starting—and a challenge to help you break out of hesitation mode.
Let’s get into it.
Lesson: You’d Be Further Ahead If You Tried More.
I was recently talking with a mentee about this idea.
She felt stuck, unable to take the next step in her career because she didn’t feel ready. She felt everything needed to be perfectly lined up before making a move.
I told her what I wish someone would have drilled into me earlier: You don’t get clarity by waiting—you get it by doing.
We don’t get things right because we wait. We get things right because we start, adjust, and improve.
If you’re stuck, then try these 3 steps:
TEST
You don’t know how it will turn out—so what? Do the thing anyway. If it works, great. If it doesn’t, you’ve just gained valuable data. That’s a win either way.
TRY (For Real)
Not half-heartedly. Not while obsessing over whether it will succeed. Instead of fixating on the outcome, obsess over the process.
Experiment with different angles.
Get lost in learning
Throw yourself in fully.
Mastery doesn’t come from waiting for perfect conditions—it comes from engaging with imperfection.
TOSS (If Needed)
If it didn’t work, let it go. Move on. Try again.
Yes, you have goals and a vision. But holding onto something that isn’t working only delays the next, best version. The faster you let go, the faster you get another shot.
I’m Still Learning, Too
Motherhood is a constant learning experience. One day, I feel like I have mastered something. The next, everything explodes—literally.
I am blessed with two daughters, each with completely distinct personalities. What worked for one can be a total disaster with the other. What’s my approach? Try, test, toss—and repeat.🔁
Life Is One Big Experiment.
If we embrace the idea that our first attempt likely won’t be the final version, we'd move faster—getting where we want to go sooner rather than later.
My advice? Try more. Test more. Let go of what doesn’t serve you. And try again (Aaliyah said it best).
