Happy Big 3 Wednesday!
Thank you, for being here.
Today, let's explore being uncomfortable, The Diary of a CEO book, and, wait for it, eliminating goals - not making new ones.
Quick one: A connection of mine who is a fabulous stylist is nominated for an award of the year. See who she is at the end, and kindly vote for her. :)
Enjoy this weekās big three!
The Lesson š”
Discomfort Drives Growth
I learned this firsthand in 2013. Influencer marketing wasn't popular in Canada yet, and despite enjoying blogging, it wasn't generating a significant income. I was ready to give up. However, having acquired new skills in social media marketing, branding, and networking, I realized it was time for a shift.
I decided to stop blogging - it was hard and I cried a lot. Then, I applied for, and received, a government grant for self-employment. With that financial support, I launched my social media consulting agency. Writing a business plan from scratch and entering an unfamiliar industry was incredibly challenging, but it pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined.
This experience and many others taught me a valuable lesson: embracing discomfort is essential for growth.
Stepping outside your comfort zone will often lead to extraordinary opportunities. These challenging moments of fear and uncertainty are the catalyst to uncover our real potential.
The Book š
The Diary of a CEO, by Steven Bartlett
The Diary of a CEO, if you're unfamiliar, is arguably one of the best podcasts out there. Steven Bartlett's book of the same name is no different, it's a keeper.
Here are quotes from the book that I find inspiring:
āDo the thing you fear, and keep on doing it. That is the quickest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.ā
āYou don't become a master because you're able to retain knowledge. You become a master when you're able to release it.ā
āIf you don't care about tiny details you'll produce bad work because good work is the culmination of hundreds of tiny details. The world's most successful people all sweat the small stuff.ā
āThe most convincing sign that someone will achieve new results in the future is new behaviour in the present.ā
The Strategy šÆ
Prioritize By Eliminating
Tired of juggling endless goals? It's time to simplify and conquer. Forget about adding new ones. Instead, prioritize by eliminating. Grab your 2024 goal list and ruthlessly cut it down to three absolute must-haves.
By committing to these three, you'll gain the clarity and momentum to take action.
Ready to focus? Follow these steps:
Gather your goals: Pull out your 2024 list.
Be ruthless: Eliminate everything except your top three priorities.
Commit: Fully dedicate yourself to these three goals.
Choose focus over frenzy.
