No Networking, No FOMO

Happy Big 3 Wednesday!

Is it just me or 2024 has been adulting on steroids? Nonetheless, if you’re reading this, you have a shot at making the best of it. So let’s go.💪🏾

Here are 1 lesson, 1 book and 1 strategy worth studying this week.

1 Lesson 💡

« Don’t go to war where there are no spoils. »

There was a time when I believed attending events was the best way to build fruitful relationships. I was wrong. Empty networking bears no fruits.

I’ve recently had many conversations with some intelligent and driven women in my network, and they echoed this sentiment, especially black and brown women. Too much networking and too little impact have been a common experience.

My motto now: avoid empty networking, build something great instead, and the right network will follow. My younger self would have appreciated this advice, and I hope it helps you too.

1 Book 📕

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Are you embarking on a new journey? Feeling unsure in a sea of unknowns?

This timeless classic ignited my entrepreneurial spirit over 10 years ago and still inspires me. It was a timely guide as I dived into the unknown world of self-employment.

Whether you're just starting or a seasoned entrepreneur, it holds valuable insights. Here are three of my favorite quotes:

  • The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.

  • When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.

  • Making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.

1 Strategy 🎯

Declutter your Goals

Is it time to refresh your goals? Take a moment to reflect.  Do they still excite you and align with your dreams?

I once obsessed over fashion, glued to the Met Gala every year (maybe a little bit last week 😜). But now, my priorities have shifted, and that's okay!

Just like you, your interests evolve, and so should your goals. Regularly revisiting your goals ensures they stay relevant and inspiring for you now and in the future.

Think of it as a decluttering exercise - make space for new goals that reflect your current journey!

Until next week,

Be Consistent.
