The Courage to Be You 👸🏾

Welcome to another Big 3!

Today's edition is about the power we experience when we dare to create authentically, choose to master our minds and nurture meaningful connections.

This edition is brought to you by consistency and positive habits. It's my version of a Queen Bee move.

Enjoy!

The Lesson 💡

Don't Perform, Create Authentically

When I started creating fashion and lifestyle content, I later found myself caught in the trap of seeking external validation, measuring my work's worth by the number of views and likes I'd get. It made sense in a way, but overall, seeking applause was counterintuitive to my creative process.

Once I stopped performing and started creating authentically, things shifted. The Big 3 is one of many byproducts of this approach.

Those who choose to create, to express their unique vision without compromise, are the ones who leave a lasting impact on us and the world. They are the ones who inspire, challenge the status quo and elevate the game.

Think of the Beyoncé, Serena Williams, Stev Jobbs, Gary Vee, Codie Sanchez and Steven Bartlett of this world, to name a few. We know of them now, but they were creating and doing the hard work, long before the world paid attention.

So, dear creator, business owner and corporate baddie seeking impact; embrace the doubt, setbacks and the quiet, dark hours. They are all part of the journey. When you finally emerge from your "behind the scenes era", with a masterpiece, the attention and the applause will be a natural byproduct of the courage it took to stay true to yourself.

Don't perform, create.

The Book 📕

David Goggins' New York Times best-seller Can't Hurt Me Nowis a memoir of his extraordinary life, overcoming adversity through sheer willpower and determination.

Born into poverty, Goggins defied expectations to become a decorated US Navy SEAL, ultramarathon runner, and motivational speaker.

Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds, by David Goggins

His journey from hardship to triumph is a testament to the human spirit's resilience and the power of self-belief.

I listened to the full thirteen-hour audiobook and was on the edge until the end. It should be a movie. I hope you will read or listen to it. I leave you these three quotes that inspire me when I get too complacent:

  • Comfort is the enemy of progress.

  • The only thing stopping you is you.

  • You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

The Strategy 🎯

Reclaim Your Connections, Ignite Your Future

Remember the power of a simple conversation? I did.

A recent catch-up with an acquaintance I hadn't spoken to since the pandemic led to an exciting event concept development (Hey, Rachel!). I am still amazed and grateful at how much our conversation fed and inspired me.

Have you been thinking about someone you haven't connected with in a while? Whether it's a friend, family member, or former colleague, a simple phone call or coffee date can bring immense joy and unexpected opportunities.

Don't let precious connections fade. Reach out, schedule a meeting, spark a conversation, and see where it leads.

A simple phone call or coffee date could spark new ideas, reignite old friendships, and open doors to unexpected possibilities.

Reconnect. Rediscover. Reclaim.

Thank you for reading.

Until next week,

Stay Consistent.
