Your Past Holds The Key
Welcome to another Big 3 Wednesday!
The Lesson 💡
Resurrecting Dreams: Embracing the Past for a Thriving Future
Have you ever achieved a dream only to have life interrupt the journey? The momentum fades, the dream is buried, and you move on.
This happened with my social media agency, which I closed in 2021 after nearly seven years. The accomplishments were noteworthy, and the mission was thrilling, but I never looked back after shutting it down.
Fast-forward to 2024, I'm rediscovering and resurrecting elements from that time for my new impact-focused company.
Everything we do is an ever-unfolding evolution of ourselves.
What if some of your old ideas hold the missing element to create something new? Sometimes, an idea is ahead of its time, and with new insights and a fresh perspective, the old idea will breathe life into a new undertaking.
Embrace your past to create a thriving future.
The Book 📕
It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be, by Paul Arden
Paul Arden was a renowned creative director and the author of several best-selling books on advertising and motivation.
This uplifting and humorous small book is a gem, packed into easy-to-digest, bite-sized spreads. If you want to succeed in life or business, this book is a must.
Some of my (many) favourite quotes are:
Don't promise what you can't deliver.
Do not covet your ideas. Give away everything you know, and more will come back to you.
Talent helps, but it won't take you as far as ambition.
Everybody wants to be good, but not many are prepared to make the sacrifices it takes to be great.
The Strategy 🎯
Time to Conquer Procrastination: The 5-Minute Rule
Try the 5-minute rule: When you're facing a task you're procrastinating on, commit to working on it for just five minutes. This small step can help you break through the inertia. And once in motion, I find it easier to continue working.
I recently helped a client break down her overwhelming to-do list into smaller, more manageable tasks. She found the 5-minute rule incredibly effective in overcoming her action paralysis.
Your strategy this week is to try the 5-minute rule. Choose a task you've been putting off and set a timer. Then work on it until the timer goes off.
Thank you for reading.
Until next week,
Stay Consistent.
